<p>Since a few weeks ago, SONOFF announced the updated trigger modes for MINI’s external switch connection, which includes the edge mode and pulse mode. Today, we cannot wait to introduce the third trigger mode to all of our users &#8211; Following Mode.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="MINI, More to you, Up to you, three new trigger modes update with MINI" width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RRsvMgCDVjg?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>From the external switch connection, the edge mode is available for SPDT switches and the pulse mode is available push-button switches. So what types of the switch are used for the following mode? Chop-chop, let’s together find the answer.</p>

<p>MINI converts the existing wall switch into a smart switch, and the following mode is designed for the application scenario that the existing wall switch with “ON”&nbsp;and “OFF”&nbsp;mark, as well as for the sensor with dry contact output. </p>

<p>In the following mode, the output of MINI relay will be triggered by the detected corresponding trigger edge. To be applicable for both NC and NO switches or dry contact sensors, the following mode can be set in default or reversed in the app. </p>

<p>Here is the relay output vs detected trigger edge.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/74F20D11-CD0C-4757-9B1C-EF849AC27138.png" alt="" class="wp-image-8913" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/74F20D11-CD0C-4757-9B1C-EF849AC27138.png 704w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/74F20D11-CD0C-4757-9B1C-EF849AC27138-300x69.png 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/74F20D11-CD0C-4757-9B1C-EF849AC27138-600x138.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px" /></figure>

<p><strong>How does the S1 and S2 work?</strong></p>

<p> “Following”, as its name indicates one-to-one correspondence, the following mode is mainly appropriate for the case that the load state follows the open/closed state of the connected switch or dry contact sensor in external switch control. As shown in the diagram, the detailed working mechanism for the S1 and S2 interface can help you understand the following mode well.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-1024x653.png" alt="" class="wp-image-8812" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-1024x653.png 1024w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-300x191.png 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-768x490.png 768w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-600x383.png 600w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s.png 1127w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Both the falling edge and rising edge are detected as a valid trigger signal to change the relay of state of MINI for the following mode. The edge trigger signal type is one-to-one correspondence with the load state change. With the following mode &#8220;default&#8221; setting, A falling edge is generated by the switch state change from “Open to Closed”, which makes the load state is triggered &#8220;ON&#8221; or keep &#8220;ON&#8221; (if the original load state is ON). Likewise, a rising edge is detected when the switch state occurs the change from “Close to Open”, the load will turn &#8220;OFF&#8221; or keep in &#8220;OFF&#8221; state.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MINI-2.gif" alt=""/></figure>

<p> What’s more, the dry contact sensor can work with MIN as an external switch. Typically, the dry contact sensor is a simple trigger unit that can be used to detect many different inputs, such as motion sensors, burglar alarms, fire alarms or any usage that requires moving and detecting occurs. Let’s take the radar sensor switch as an example among dry contact sensors. The radar switch triggers the load on and off via the built-in detecting system. When the movement is detected by the switch, the S1 and S2 will be connected which makes the light be triggered &#8220;ON&#8221;. Once the movement disappears, the switch will be disconnected automatically which triggers the light off.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/雷达开关.gif" alt=""/></figure>

<p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p>

<p>After MINI is released, the SPDT switch as the only and first one of external switches can be compatible with it. Recently, for the updated MINI, the external switches are extended to more application fields such as push-button switches and dry contact sensors. To be sure, this is a huge upgrade for MINI. The release of the following mode dramatically extends the external switch types so that users can have more options on the control of devices via MINI. A tip for these three trigger modes is that the edge mode is available for V3.5.0 firmware of MINI and V4.2.0 eWeLink app.</p>

<p>We’re too impatient to wait to see what you build!</p>

<p>A few days before, SONOFF made the <a href="https://sonoff.tech/news/what-are-new-trigger-modes-for-minis-external-switch-edge-mode">edge mode</a>&nbsp;of MINI two-way smart switch public nevertheless there was no a detailed introduction for the other two trigger modes in that article, which seems to make our users more curious about the coming two trigger modes. Today, just go into this article to continue exploring the trigger mode with your curiosity and question!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="MINI, More to you, Up to you, three new trigger modes update with MINI" width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RRsvMgCDVjg?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>From the edge mode, MINI can work with a rocker light switch (without bouncing between on and off positions) to trigger the connected light or device on and off. Not only that, MINI also extends the external switch connection to the pulse switch, just as “pulse”&nbsp;name implies &#8211; pulse mode. In this mode, we will take push button switches (it is called the momentary switch in the eWeLink app) as the main external switch type and make a detailed introduction.</p>

<p>Here is a circuit diagram of SW &amp; external detect function which shows how S1 and S2 of MINI&nbsp;work as below:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-1024x653.png" alt="" class="wp-image-8812" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-1024x653.png 1024w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-300x191.png 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-768x490.png 768w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s-600x383.png 600w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/1s.png 1127w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>In electronics, a signal edge is a transition of a digital signal from low to high or from high to low. Obviously, the rising edge (or positive edge) is the low-to-high transition, and the falling edge (negative edge) is the high-to-low transition. The pulse mode is mainly used for&nbsp;the push button switch&nbsp;to trigger the relay state of MINI converted when there is a falling edge is detected. As for the push button switch, it includes the NO (Normally Open) and NC (Normally Closed) push button switch that can work with MINI in this mode.</p>

<p><strong>How does the S1 and S2 work?</strong></p>

<p>For the NO (Normally Open) push button switch, a&nbsp;press operation makes the S2 signal level from high to low&nbsp;along with&nbsp;the falling edge, and then the rising edge will occur after a release that S2 signal level from low to high as below shown.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/NO-push-button.gif" alt=""/></figure>

<p>Similarly,&nbsp;a diagrammatic version of the NC (Normally Closed) push button switch&nbsp;is shown here:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/NC-push-button.gif" alt=""/></figure>

<p>As you can see from the above&nbsp;changes,&nbsp;the “press and release”&nbsp;operation of both&nbsp;NO and NC push button switch contains the falling edge. That is to say, in the pulse mode, when a push button switch is connected to MINI, each “press and release”&nbsp;of it will trigger the MINI relay switch state convert.</p>

<p><strong>Conclusion:</strong></p>

<p>The pulse mode is ideal for door control system. It&nbsp;can be enabled on the eWeLink app to trigger the MINI relay on or off when the connected push button switch is pressed each time that the door control system will be opened or closed. Due to the button on the switch goes back to the initial position after each press, the button will always keep the same position no whatever you turn on or off the device. </p>

<p>Well, this introduction for the pulse mode ends in the same way with the edge mode. Don’t worry, the next following mode will not make you wait too long. Please keep attention.</p>

<p>Edge mode, one of three new trigger modes, is intended for making the load state change on each press of switch button without having to check the on/off state from the switch button.</p>

<p><strong>Overview:</strong></p>

<p>First off, an important question is here for you &#8211; Do you know what’s the foremost feature in SONOFF <a href="https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-mini-sonoff-marrakech-casablanca-agadir-tanger-rabat-maroc.html">MINI</a>? It’s OK whatever this is clear to you or not. The typically&nbsp;outstanding&nbsp;feature of MINI smart switch is the S1 and S2 interface are engineered for an external light switch connection as one more way to control MINI relay ON and OFF.</p>

<p>Like other switches, MINI allows you to connect a rocker light switch (without bouncing between On and Off positions)&nbsp;to realize&nbsp;the purpose of controlling the same light from two locations, like turning on the stair light downstairs and turning off it upstairs.&nbsp;Differently, connecting a light to MINI and you can enable the remote control with a mobile app, getting it on or off anywhere, anytime. Besides the app remote control, MINI can work with a smart voice assistant like Alexa and Google Home, which provides the possibility to access a hands-free voice control of the light, simpler to manage your home in the manner of smart control.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/A94458BA-58C4-4c19-B606-AE99917F3BEE.png" alt="" class="wp-image-8744" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/A94458BA-58C4-4c19-B606-AE99917F3BEE.png 759w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/A94458BA-58C4-4c19-B606-AE99917F3BEE-300x242.png 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/A94458BA-58C4-4c19-B606-AE99917F3BEE-600x485.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 759px) 100vw, 759px" /></figure>

<p><strong>State changes of the external switch:</strong></p>

<p>In the MINI circuit, the S1 is at signal ground level while the S2 is hanging with a pull-up resistor at 3.3V level. The change of the external switch state triggers the S2 signal level change. when S1 and S2 are disconnected (external switch state is open), the S2 signal level is still kept as 3.3V high level signal, the connection of S1 and S2 would lead S2 signal level into &#8220;ground&#8221; low. Here is a table to indicate the relationship of external switch state vs signal level.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/S1-S2-1024x120.png" alt="" class="wp-image-8745" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/S1-S2-1024x120.png 1024w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/S1-S2-300x35.png 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/S1-S2-768x90.png 768w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/S1-S2-600x71.png 600w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/S1-S2.png 1208w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This time, MINI comes a new improvement based on&nbsp;the previous external switch connection, which covers&nbsp;3 external trigger modes:</p>

<ul><li>Edge mode</li><li>Pulse mode</li><li>Following mode</li></ul>

<p><strong>What’s the edge mode?</strong></p>

<p>Before we dive into the edge mode, let’s learn about the electronic term: signal edge detection. This refers to a technically widely used in embedded software and electronics. A signal edge is defined as the transition of the signal from a high state to a low state or from a low state to a high state as the above signal level table shows. </p>

<p>From this table, a falling edge would be observed for the state change of &#8220;Open to Closed&#8221;.&nbsp;Similarly, a rising edge occurs&nbsp;when the switch state from &#8220;Closed to Open&#8221;.&nbsp;In this mode, either falling edge (switch contact from open to closed) or rising edge (switch contact from closed to open) is the trigger signal for MINI relay state change.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MINI-rising-edge.gif" alt="" class="wp-image-8746"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MINI-falling-edge.gif" alt="" class="wp-image-8747"/></figure>

<p>In the edge mode, the load of MINI reacts for every switch operation no matter the external switch turns &#8220;On&#8221; or &#8220;Off&#8221;, that is the switch is flipped for continuous &#8220;On&#8221; or &#8220;Off&nbsp;after being pressed every time. From the picture below. let’s have a look at how does&nbsp;the state of the connected light will change when the MINI is connected&nbsp;with an external SPDT toggle switch.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Edge-mode.gif" alt="" class="wp-image-8748"/></figure>

<p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p>

<p>You can deploy a smart home solution&nbsp;with MINI like&nbsp;getting the connected light or device controlled from two different locations&nbsp;(two-way control), mobile app or just a simple voice command. Under the two-way control of external switch connection, the new edge mode is quite friendly for users who don’t require&nbsp;a&nbsp;specific direction to “Open” and “Close” state&nbsp;on the switch button so that each press of the external switch triggers the state of the light,&nbsp;no more need to judge your next operation triggers the light turn on or off via the direction of the switch button. The edge mode is available for V3.5.0 firmware of MINI and V4.2.0 eWeLink app.</p>

<p>That’s not all, I’ll go on to walk you through other two modes in the next articles&nbsp;&#8211; the pulse mode and following mode. Stay tuned.</p>

<ul><li><strong> Properly Working </strong></li></ul>

<p> The device has been paired in eWeLink and connect to WiFi router and server successfully. </p>

<p> If the device paring was failed or the device works improperly, the first step is to observe the LED pairing indicator blinking way which you can understand the status of the device. </p>

<p><strong>Example Case 1: Quick Pairing failed</strong></p>

<p>Device: BASICR3</p>

<p>Description: Proceed the Quick Pairing in eWeLink, but finally failed</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote"><p>Solution: </p><p>1. Observe the LED pairing indicator blinking way.</p><p>2. If the the LED pairing indicator blinking as &#8220;Compatible Paring Mode (AP)&#8221;, it means the device is in Compatible Paring Mode, short press the pairing button one time to quit Compatible Paring Mode, then long press the pairing button for 5 seconds, the device will enter the Quick Pairing Mode which is used for Quick Pairing approach. </p><p>3. If the the LED pairing indicator blinking as &#8220;Quick Paring Mode (Touch)&#8221; but pairing still failed, there are some other reasons:</p><p>&#8211; The WiFi password you input is not correct when set up the pairing procedure.</p><p>&#8211; The device is too far away from the router which leads a weak WiFi signal. </p><p>&#8211; The device only works with 2.4GHz WiFi, if your WiFi network is dual bands (2.4GHz &amp; 5GHz), it will caused the fail pairing. so turn off the 5GHz band while pairing. </p></blockquote>

<p><strong>Example Case 2: Offline issue</strong></p>

<p>Device Model: BASICR3</p>

<p>Description: The device in eWeLink shows offine, remote control or voice control is not available.</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote"><p>Solution: </p><p>1. Observe the LED pairing indicator blinking way. </p><p>2. If the the LED pairing indicator blinking as &#8220;No WiFi Connection&#8221;, it means the device lost the connection to your router, it could be one of the following reasons:</p><p>&#8211; There are too many devices connect to your router which exceeded router capacity</p><p>&#8211; The device MAC is filtered by router MAC management </p><p>&#8211; The device is too far away from the router which leads a weak WiFi signal </p><p>3. If the the LED pairing indicator blinking as &#8220;No Server Connection&#8221;, it means the device is not able to establish the connection with eWeLink server, it could be one of the following reasons: </p><p>&#8211; The WiFi network is not available to access the Internet or eWeLink server </p><p>&#8211; The eWeLink server was blocked by the network provider, please contact the network provider whether below server was blocked or not</p><p>cn-disp.coolkit.cc(China Mainland); </p><p>as-disp.coolkit.cc(in Asia except China); </p><p>eu-disp.coolkit.cc(in EU); us-disp.coolkit.cc(in US) </p></blockquote>

<p>Did you ever expect to control the SONOFF device by your own application without Tasmota firmware flash ? Since the middle of 2019, SONOFF released a DIY mode for <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="BASICR3 (opens in a new tab)" href="https://sonoff.tech/product/wifi-diy-smart-switches/basicr3" target="_blank">BASICR3</a>, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="RFR3 (opens in a new tab)" href="https://sonoff.tech/product/wifi-smart-wall-swithes/rfr3" target="_blank">RFR3</a>, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="MINI (opens in a new tab)" href="https://sonoff.tech/product/wifi-diy-smart-switches/sonoff-mini" target="_blank">MINI</a> and <a href="https://sonoff.tech/product/wifi-diy-smart-switches/d1-smart-dimmer-switch">D1</a> that users are able to discover the SONOFF device via mDNS discovery mechanism as well as control the device according to the published REST API protocol.</p>

<p>let&#8217;s call the first version of the DIY mode as Edition 1.0, as some of home-automation community members known, when the device was switched into DIY mode, it connected with a specfic WiFi network which is defined by SONOFF, the device WiFi configuration setting can be changed via the <a href="https://github.com/itead/Sonoff_Devices_DIY_Tools" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="tool (opens in a new tab)">tool</a> from Github. Now! SONOFF develops DIY mode 2.0 which is much easier and faster to switch into DIY mode and set up the device.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s check it out and see how easy and speedy to set up a DIY mode device in minutes!</p>

<p>The way to switch into DIY mode of the new version (2.0) is totally different with the 1.0 one. No enclosure disassembly and jumper plug-in is needed, in DIY mode 2.0, long pressing the pairing button for seconds leads device switch into Compatiable Pairing Mode (AP) which set the device as Access Point. A hotspot of the Access Point can be found in the name of ITEAD-XXXXXXX (password: 12345678), connect it!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/after.gif" alt="" width="393" height="309"/></figure></div>

<p>A web page for the configuration of WIFi network that the device will connected with is stored in DIY mode device which can be accessed by the URL of <a href="http://10.10.7.1/">http://10.10.7.1/</a> as below shown, after configuring the SSID and Password, the device will reboot and connect with the WiFi network that just entered.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/WiFi.gif" alt="" width="402" height="316"/></figure></div>

<p>With a successful WiFi network connection, the device will be blinking in this way as below shown. Device IP address appears in the router management dashboard.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/success.gif" alt="" width="408" height="322"/></figure></div>

<p>Wow, The device is under your control now! </p>

<p>As you can check the REST API protocol from SONOFF website <a href="http://developers.sonoff.tech/sonoff-diy-mode-api-protocol-sonoff-marrakech-casablanca-agadir-tanger-rabat-maroc.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="developer page (opens in a new tab)">developer page</a>, the capability includes ON&amp;OFF Switch, Power-On State, Inching, network SSID and password reset, signal strength，retrieve device info etc.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s try to control the SONOFF device [1] with ON&amp;OFF, Inching and retrieve device info via Postman application. As we known from the developer page of DIY mode protocol, ON&amp;OFF control is defined by sending a HTTP request to the URL of http://[ip]:[port]/zeroconf/switch, </p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">{ <br> "deviceid": "", <br> "data": {<br> &nbsp; "switch": "on" <br> &nbsp; } <br> }</pre>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class=""><thead><tr><th class="has-text-align-center" data-align="center">Attribute</th><th>Type</th><th class="has-text-align-center" data-align="center">Optional</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td class="has-text-align-center" data-align="center">switch</td><td>String</td><td class="has-text-align-center" data-align="center">No</td><td><strong>on:</strong> turn the switch on, <strong>off:</strong> turn the switch off</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<p>Here is the demo of ON&amp;OFF in Postman:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/onoff.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-6995" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/onoff.jpg 755w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/onoff-300x199.jpg 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/onoff-600x397.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 755px) 100vw, 755px" /></figure>

<p>The inching function is available to be controlled via the request as below</p>

<p><strong>URL: </strong>http://[ip]:[port]/zeroconf/pulse</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">{ <br> "deviceid": "", <br> "data": {<br> &nbsp; "pulse": "on", <br> &nbsp; "pulseWidth": 2000<br> &nbsp; } <br> }</pre>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class=""><thead><tr><th>Attribute</th><th>Type</th><th>Optional</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>pulse</td><td>String</td><td>No</td><td><strong>on:</strong> activate the inching function;
<strong>off:</strong> disable the inching function</td></tr><tr><td>pulseWidth</td><td>Number</td><td>Yes</td><td>Required when &#8220;pulse&#8221; is on, pulse time length, positive integer, ms, only supports multiples of 500 in range of 500~36000000</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/inching.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-6996" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/inching.jpg 755w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/inching-300x199.jpg 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/inching-600x397.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 755px) 100vw, 755px" /></figure>

<p>Now the inching setting is on with pulsewidth 2000ms, thus, when device is turned on, it will automatically turn off after 2000ms. </p>

<p>To get the device info, send a request via a URL request of </p>

<p>http://[ip]:[port]/zeroconf/info.</p>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted">{ <br> "deviceid": "", <br> "data": { } <br> }</pre>

<p>Empty object, no attribute is required.</p>

<p>A response feedback of the device info is coming.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/info.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-6997" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/info.jpg 755w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/info-300x269.jpg 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/info-600x539.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 755px) 100vw, 755px" /></figure>

<p>How easy the whole process is, isn&#8217;t it?</p>

<p>PS: DIY mode 2.0 is availble for the device (BASICR3, RFR3 MINI and D1) with firmware 3.5.0, if the device firmware is below 3.5.0, update the firmware via eWeLink APP is needed. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="DIY Mode V2.0 Tutorial" width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1TmgJnvtV0s?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>Dimmer product DIY Mode tutorial:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="Get SONOFF D1 dimmer light switch integrated into your own home automation platform" width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wOLTsXN1QuM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>The process of device set up and control becomes more convenient and speedy. The real sense of DIY mode is to explore the way to control the SONOFF device [1] and save the time from no Tasmota firmware flash, without eWeLink cloud go through, you are still able to get the fully control for the SONOFF device [1] , integrate the device in the home-automation platform such as Home Assistant, OpenHAB，Homeseer etc which makes more possibilities happen.</p>

<p>Control the SONOFF device in the way as you want, enjoy the home-automation journey!</p>

<p>By the way, more SONOFF products will be integrated with DIY mode, stay tuned!</p>

<p>SONOFF, Your Smart Choice.</p>

<p>PS: [1] The SONOFF device refers to BASICR3,RFR3, MINI and D1.</p>

<p>A new strain of respiratory illness <a href="https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus">coronavirus</a>&nbsp;(dubbed 2019-nCoV&nbsp;by WHO) outbreaks that started in Wuhan in December last year, the city with the largest populations of central China. According to health officials, the disease can cause the respiratory tract infection and spread mainly from person-to-person, and what’s worse it can probably pass to others before a person shows symptoms.</p>

<p>So far, there are <a href="https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index-sonoff-marrakech-casablanca-agadir-tanger-rabat-maroc.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="almost 100000 persons have infected and more than 3000 lives are claimed over (opens in a new tab)">almost 100000 persons have infected and more than 3000 lives are claimed over</a>&nbsp;around the word. The coronavirus has a sign of slowdown in China, but the outbreak of the virus starts spreading through the world. There are now many confirmed cases of the coronavirus across Asia, Europe and Australia.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus2.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-6790" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus2.jpeg 825w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus2-300x128.jpeg 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus2-768x329.jpeg 768w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus2-600x257.jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure>

<p>As for the transmission route of the coronavirus, it is thought to spread through respiratory droplets and direct or indirect contact with infected secretions, spreading up to six feet, experts said. That means people can catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from someone with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. Besides the disease can spread via touching the surface or object that carries the virus. When people contact the contaminated surface and object, then touch their nose, mouth or eyes, they will probably be infected. <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/q-a-coronaviruses" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="WHO (opens in a new tab)">WHO</a>&nbsp;reported the coronavirus travel mainly from person to person through the following routes:</p>

<p>Respiratory droplets &#8212; when a person coughs or sneezes.</p>

<p>Direct contact with infected persons.</p>

<p>Touch&nbsp;with contaminated surfaces and objects.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus3.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-6791" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus3.jpeg 825w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus3-300x128.jpeg 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus3-768x329.jpeg 768w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus3-600x257.jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure>

<p>Shadowed in ongoing coronavirus now, we’re afraid that the virus takes hold on our body while we are going out. We should keep a higher alert on the virus especially in public, such as office, public transport, etc. What should we need to do most is to wear a face mask, which offers necessary protection to us as they block liquid droplets in the crowd. It’s worth repeating again is that washing your hands with running water and with soap after arriving home. As the current situation of inhibiting the coronavirus goes into a better stage in China, we SONOFF have&nbsp;started coming back to work. We adopt&nbsp;a series of&nbsp;measures to avoid&nbsp;the coronavirus for&nbsp;all staffs’&nbsp;safety in the office.</p>

<p>Non-touch remote control is a good way to avoid the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.&nbsp; This prevents you indirectly contacting with different people and lowers the risk of being infected when you touch the things which the sick touched. What will you think of when it comes to remote control? APP control on your smartphone, remote controller control and simple voice control. Actually, there are quite convenient ways for helping control your home device in this special period. SONOFF smart home products adhere to the “remote control concept” for enabling your non-touched smart home, which avoids&nbsp;many individuals touching the surface of the same device&nbsp;in our home and office&nbsp;frequently, such as door&nbsp;handle,&nbsp;light switch&nbsp;and blinds controller.&nbsp;Next, let’s look at how SONOFF steer clear of coronavirus in virtue of “own”&nbsp;smart products in the office.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus4.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-6792" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus4.jpeg 825w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus4-300x128.jpeg 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus4-768x329.jpeg 768w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus4-600x257.jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure>

<p>One of the common coronavirus infection routes in public is indirect contact infection. The coronavirus can attach on them if someone who is infected touches these high touch surfaces, such as elevator buttons, door handle, handrail and fingerprint sensor, etc, and then others will have a risk of being attacked the virus after touching them. To prevent the spread of the virus, our reception alone uses a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="remote controller (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-rm433-remote-controller-base-sonoff-marrakech-casablanca-agadir-tanger-rabat-maroc.html" target="_blank">remote controller</a> instead of the fingerprint sensor to activate the door control system. When the door control system receives the signal from the remote controller, it will automatically open or close. Besides, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="smart wall switches (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-tx-series-wifi-smart-wall-switches-sonoff-marrakech-casablanca-agadir-tanger-rabat-maroc.html" target="_blank">smart wall switches</a> are assembled in our office to automatically turn on lights at 8:50AM and turn off by itself after duty off, reaching the purposes of eliminating the fear of direct contact and convenient control of office energy consumption. Adequate ventilation plays a key role in infection control by minimizing airborne bacteria and viruses. We choose the <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="4-gang smart switch (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-4ch-pro-sonoff-marrakech-casablanca-agadir-tanger-rabat-maroc.html" target="_blank">4-gang smart switch</a> to schedule office blinds on and off for keeping the air circulating and fresh. The coronavirus is particularly sensitive to UV light and heat as reported from WHO. The UV sterilization lamp connected with a <a href="https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-s31-sonoff-marrakech-casablanca-agadir-tanger-rabat-maroc.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="smart plug (opens in a new tab)">smart plug</a> is used to sterilize our office in a pre-set time after we go off work, which protects us from UV radiation. The government appeals to receive packages in a non-contact way that all packages are delivered to the designated area for reducing the cross-contact in person-to-person, so we install a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Wi-Fi camera (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-gk-200mp2-b-wi-fi-wireless-ip-security-camera-sonoff-marrakech-casablanca-agadir-tanger-rabat-maroc.html" target="_blank">Wi-Fi camera</a> in the package receiving area to speak to the deliveryman and monitor the package for being not lost, reducing the direct contact with the deliveryman.</p>

<p>By the way, it is safe to receive packages from SONOFF according to<a href="https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public">&nbsp;</a><a href="https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="WHO advice (opens in a new tab)">WHO advice</a>.&nbsp;SONOFF&nbsp;sterilizes&nbsp;the factory every day to ensure a clean and healthy production environment. Plus, we&nbsp;always wear a face mask and disposable gloves to package all goods to be delivered to customers before shipping out.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus5.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-6793" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus5.jpeg 825w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus5-300x128.jpeg 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus5-768x329.jpeg 768w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus5-600x257.jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure>

<p>There is currently no vaccine for treatment with the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The most effective precaution measure is wearing a face mask that can protect droplets from entering the mouth and nasal passage. If you’re considering choosing a face mask but don’t know which one is preferable, this face mask guidance will be helpful for you. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus6.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-6794" srcset="https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus6.jpeg 825w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus6-300x128.jpeg 300w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus6-768x329.jpeg 768w, https://sonoff.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Protect-Ourselves-from-Coronavirus6-600x257.jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure>

<p>Furthermore, what we also need to do is to avoid going to crowded places in addition to wearing a surgical mask and washing hands with soap. Right now, treatment relies on keeping the patient’s body going like breathing support until immune system can fight off the virus. So we can stay healthy and safe in the period of the coronavirus outbreak as long as adopting effective precautions. Be alert not alarmed&nbsp;over the coronavirus and we will beat it.</p>
